Hello UTA Parents and Family!

Welcome to our Brand New Maverick Guardian Parent Blog!

We are proud to introduce our newest communication venture, The Maverick Guardian Parent Blog!  Our Blog is a creatively, student-focused addition to the Maverick Communication Portal, which is foundationally family-centered.  You’ll hear direct accounts from UTA students, faculty and staff regarding UTA specific benefits, resources and services. We also hope to provide an in-depth look into trending topics that are of importance to the college experience. The UTA Parent & Family Center Assistant Director describes it best:

“The Maverick Guardian will provide in-depth resources and information related to trending topics within higher education as it relates to the rhythms of college life. In addition, we want this blog to be a place where our campus partners provide further information and insight into the tough topics within their industries.  Ultimately, we want students and their families to engage in healthy discussions surrounding the topics selected each month.” – Tasha Talton, Assistant Director of the UTA Parent & Family Center

  1. The blog is nice. However, one specific issue is not worked out. That issue is professors helping students. My student was just starting 1 on 1 meetings with their professor prior to shutdown due to failing grade was a major concern. Now that professor has totally tossed it out & it’s extremely disheartening to my student who’s trying to pass that course. With no tutoring or help coming from the professor. Students aren’t slacking- professors are in their abilities to help students. I have seen this first hand. I’m extremely disappointed in UTA’s math & engineering department . Especially when my student has tried & reached out to them.

    1. Dear Ms. White,
I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I do know that this is a difficult transition for everyone, including both students and professors. If your student is needing additional resources, you can try tutoring services such as the UTA IDEAS Center, and UTSI. Also, if you or your student have concerns about a lack of communication from your professor, you could encourage him/her to contact the Chair of their Department. We wish your student good luck, and thank you for being an engaged and caring parent!
