Dr. M. K. Raja’s Bio
Dr. M. K. Raja is a Professor of Information Systems and Management Sciences at the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Texas Tech University. He also received M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston, M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology and B.S.(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras. He was ranked second in the State among Mechanical Engineering graduates.
He is member of Industrial Engineering Honor Society (Alpha Pi Mu) and Decision Sciences Honor Society (Alpha Iota Delta).
After his doctoral program, Dr. Raja worked at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville Alabama. There he was involved in research related to Atmospheric Data Collection and Analysis for the Apollo and Skylab Programs. After leaving NASA, Dr. Raja taught at the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, The University of Arizona and The University of New Mexico.
Dr. Raja joined The University of Texas at Arlington in 1981 as an Associate Professor of Information Systems and was promoted to Professor in 1984. At UTA Dr. Raja provided leadership in curriculum and course development in the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Information System. He is actively involved in Information Systems Security research and the Ph.D. Program in Information Systems. He served as a Director of the Center for Research on Information Systems. He has Supervised a number of Dissertations (see list of Ph.D. students here) and served on many dissertation committees. He has been active in many University, College and Departmental committees, including the Faculty Senate, College Research Committee, College AACSB Accreditation Committee and also served as the Chair of the IS Graduate Studies Committee of the Department.
Dr. Raja has over 80 Journal publications and Conference presentations (see list of recent publications here). The Journals include: Information Resource Management Journal, Journal of Accountancy, Communications of the ACM, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Information and Management and Journal of Information Technology Management.
His research interests include: Information Security, Information Assurance, Software Engineering Methodologies, Object Technology and Intelligent Enterprises and Knowledge Systems. He is currently directing research projects in the areas of Information Asset Abuse, Internet Privacy, Information Security Models, and Security Management Models.
Dr. Raja has provided consulting services in IS to many organizations, including IBM, MCI, National Semiconductor, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments.
