DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH
Dr. Levine’s research deals with behavioral studies and neural network modeling of human decision making. One of his laboratory’s projects has dealt with the differences in risky choices between prospects involving more and less emotional outcomes. Another project has dealt with a judgment task involving estimation of relative probabilities, and the effects on that task of both manipulated emotions and numerical competence. He develops computational theories of how several interacting cognitive and emotional brain regions are involved in those decision processes. His laboratory has also engaged in collaborative work with a brain imaging laboratory.
