Emergency Generator Testing – University Administration Building

Facilities Management will be testing the emergency electrical generator serving the University Administration Building on Thursday, August 5th, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  This testing is not expected to last more than 45 minutes.

There will be a slight “blip” lasting approximately one half of a second as the electrical service transfers to the generator and another as it is transferred back to the normal building service.  However, we may make this transfer more than once to insure the generator is operating properly.  It appears we may have a bad breaker on the system which will be replaced during this timeframe.

It is recommended you keep any computer work/data in progress saved to prevent any possible data loss.  Also, to prevent any possible damage, we recommend you turn off all electronic equipment including computers, scanners, and copiers (these devices do not need to be unplugged from their electrical outlets) prior to this testing period.   Please share with your fellow faculty and staff members accordingly.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call either Toby Buhrkuhl at (972) 832-1490 or Jeff Johnson at (817) 798-8456.
