Short Electrical Outage Required for Electrical Feeder Upgrade

In order to upgrade one of the campus electrical feeders, several buildings will need to be switched from their current feeder to an alternate feeder.  This will require an electrical outage lasting less than 10 seconds.  We have scheduled this switchover for Monday, December 28th, at 7:00 a.m.  For those buildings equipped with emergency generators, the duration of this outage is so short that we don’t expect the generators to go into operation.  In most cases, the current Uninterrupted Power Supplies will maintain equipment.  The affected buildings are as follows:

Arlington Hall

CAPPA (Architecture)

Chemistry & Physics Building

COBA

College Hall

Earth & Environmental Sciences Building (Geoscience)

Engineering Lab Building

Fine Arts Building

Health Center

Nanofab Building

Nedderman Hall

University Center

It is recommended you keep any computer work/data in progress saved during this timeframe to prevent any possible data loss.  Also, to prevent any possible damage, we recommend you turn off all electronic equipment including computers, scanners, and copiers (these devices do not need to be unplugged from their electrical outlets) prior to this scheduled switchover.  Please share with your fellow faculty, research teams, and staff members accordingly.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call either Toby Buhrkuhl at (972) 832-1490 or Jeff Johnson at (817) 798-8456.
