There is a line break on the domestic water service to the Fine Arts Building that is causing water to run under the building and flood the utility tunnel. Therefore, we will be shutting the water off to the entire building very shortly (as soon a replacement valve arrives on site). This water outage should last for about 20 minutes, and replacement of this ruptured valve will hopefully solve the problem. All restrooms in the building will be temporarily unavailable during this outage.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but this was an unforeseen situation. Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
******UPDATE*****
The valve replacement did not correct the problem. We are going to need access to the main water line serving the Fine Arts Building to make the repair. We are shutting the water off to the entire building around 5:30 this evening, but water service will be restored for Friday classes. All restrooms in the building will be closed during this outage, but restrooms in adjacent buildings (i.e. Architecture Building and the Maverick Activities Center) will be available for use. No other campus utilities have been jeopardized.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jeff Johnson, Facilities Management Director, at (817) 798-8456.
