Samwel Okemwa

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Chemistry from Egerton University (Kenya), 2007, Mr. Okemwa won a Diversity Visa, so called Green Card and came to the United States of America in 2010. Mr. Samwel began his teaching career at Duncanville High School in 2016. Drawing back to his passion in education, Samwel obtained a teaching certificate in Mathematics 7-12 in 2015, began teaching Algebra 1 Duncanville ISD fall 2016. In 2017, Mr. Okemwa enrolled for a master’s degree in education -Curriculum and Instruction and graduated in 2019 from Dallas Baptist University. From 2016 to 2020, he taught mathematics at Duncanville High School, and in 2020-2023 he was promoted to a Mathematics Instructional Coach role in Duncanville ISD. Starting Fall 2023, He moved over to South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie ISD to teach Algebra. Since Summer 2022, Mr. Samwel is enrolled as a doctoral student in the American College of Education. During his tenure as an educator, Mr. Samwel advanced to obtain a Principal certification as well as an ESL-certification. Mr. Samwel has also served on the STAAR Review Committee with TEA, and as an adjunct instructor in the University of Texas at Dallas. Mr. Okemwa will be teaching Algebra 1 for the 2024-25 school year and will be spending most of his free time with his wife and kids at home.
