Jayme Thomas

Jayme currently teaches Advanced and IB Chemistry HL at Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas where she also serves as the Science Department Chair and Key Club Sponsor. With a career spanning 14 years, Jayme has made a significant impact on the lives of countless students, fostering a love for chemistry and inspiring them to pursue higher education and careers in the sciences. Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, Jayme has always had a strong connection to her community. She attended Sam Houston High School herself, where her enthusiasm for learning and her natural aptitude for science were evident from an early age. After graduating from Sam Houston High School in 2005, Jayme embarked on her academic journey at Texas Christian University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in 2009. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, Jayme’s dedication to education led her back to the very school district that had nurtured her own academic growth. In 2009, she joined Bowie High School as a chemistry teacher, where she honed her teaching skills and left a lasting impact on her students for the next seven years. In 2016, Jayme seized the opportunity to return to her alma mater, Sam Houston High School. Outside of the classroom, Jayme cherishes her time spent with family, friends, and her three cats. She believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and finds joy in exploring new destinations through travel. An ardent fan of Taylor Swift, she finds solace and inspiration in her music, which often serves as the soundtrack to her adventures.
