I am looking for 2 PhD Students to work on genome evolution. Potential projects include the evolution of obligate asexuality in Daphnia, genetic regulation of meiotic recombination, and epigenetics of Daphnia. For more information on potential projects, please see the page of Research interests.
These are excellent opportunities for students who plan to pursue independent research. Training will be provided on molecular biology lab skills (e.g. next-gen sequencing ) and bioinformatic skills (e.g. programming in PERL). Interested candidates should send an email containing a CV and a description of research interests to Dr. Sen Xu. Informal inquiry is also welcome. For more information regarding admission to the graduate program at the Department of Biology, UT Arlington, consult the departmental webpage.
