Comment: In the wake of several algae collapses and restarts in our own lab, information of the effects of maternal nutrition on their offspring would be useful. The researchers found a clear relationship between the nutrition of the mothers and the longevity of the offspring. They also found that the nutrition state of the mother is heavily influenced by the fat content of the algae they consume.
This information must be taken into account when our lab analyzes the results of any experiments that were ongoing when the collapse of algae occurred, and any new experiments should allow more time than normal for generations of Daphnia to acclimatize to the new algae being produced.

Comment: Recombination rate is positively correlated with within-species diversity in Drosophila but not correlated with between-species divergence. Excellent suite of methods!
