Casey Gonzales’s Retirement!

Thank you so much for Making Casey’s Retirement Parade a Success!

Last Friday, May 29th, we called on parents, families, colleagues, and friends to say one last official goodbye to Casey Gonzales, Assistant Dean, and Parent & Family Center Director, as he enters into a new and exciting part of his life, transitioning into retirement.

Colleagues and long-time friends held a virtual coffee hour to share the wonderful stories and impressions that Casey has had on them. The celebration continued as the UTA community held a surprise Goodbye Parade where our student-led UTA Mariachi Band serenaded participants with beautiful songs as they wished Casey well from their vehicles.  Casey was surprised with gifts, well wishes, and lots of genuine love! Tasha Talton, former Parent & Family Center Assistant Director shared,

“It was both an honor and a privilege organizing a farewell celebration for a boss that has become a good friend and mentor.  Casey is a staple within the UTA campus community.  The knowledge and dedication he has for parents, family members, and students is infectious.  He challenges us all to be better.  He will truly be missed.”

Tasha is right, Casey has been such an essential part of UTA. He took pride in establishing and advising many of the Hispanic/Latinx student organizations in his tenure. He is also the founding Director of the UTA Parent & Family Center where we have served thousands of parents and family members since its inception in 2007. There are so many accolades to attribute to Casey’s success at UTA, too many to name in fact.  He will be greatly missed, but we support and encourage his future endeavors and adventures!

Lastly, please congratulate our new Interim Director, Tasha Talton. She served as an Assistant Director under Casey for four years but has led an impressive family-centered career in both secondary and higher education for over twenty years.  These two made a fantastic duo, and we are excited to see Tasha pick up where Casey left off, and take the UTA Parent and Family Center to unprecedented heights.

Here are some videos and images of the event! Enjoy!
