The purpose of this term project is to design and evaluate a real reinforced concrete beam by using the knowledge learned from the lectures. The project includes two phases. Each student group will design the reinforced concrete beam based on specified requirements/limitations, perform detailing according to ACI 318 code provisions, and predict the ultimate strength and failure mode. Students will also prepare the steel cages and get involved in the concrete casting, as well as the experimental tests.
