Students from the University of Texas Arlington Architecture program became the first class from UTA to design and build not one, but two tiny houses.
In the Fall 2016, 20 design students competed for the chance to have their designs come to life. From there, outside contractors, architects, and builders thoroughly evaluated each design, choosing the best options that would be suitable to build.
The final two designs selected were: Casa Modulo, designed by Adam Fogel and Nexus by designed and Omar Soto.
UTA’s Architecture professors, Brad McCorkle and Bang Dang, reached out to Milgard® Windows & Doors to help fund the windows used in the project.
Casa Modulo, 390 sq. ft. tiny house was built first. It features three movable modules including a living space, bedroom, kitchen, and bath.
The open-concept living quarters with large picture windows that allows for optimal sunlight. A tank less water heater to contribute to the reduction of Casa Modulo’s carbon footprint was also installed.
