Edge Legacy deprecation across Power Apps Canvas Apps
Microsoft retired the legacy version of the Microsoft Edge desktop app and will be removing Edge legacy usage across Power Apps Canvas apps. In October 2022, Power Apps will no longer be available in Internet Explorer and Edge legacy browsers, and users will be redirected to Microsoft Edge if they have Edge installed on their device.
Beginning October 1, 2022, Microsoft will redirect users from Internet Explorer to Edge using Edge redirect. Microsoft will block the usage entirely on October 31, 2022 and the Internet Explorer disable policy will be implemented the following day. Additionally, users must upgrade to WebView 2.0, as WebView 1.0 will no longer be supported for Canvas apps because it uses Edge legacy technology.
Microsoft recommends users switch to Microsoft Edge Chromium or another modern browser to avoid error messages and access issues when being redirected. Users who do this will have significantly improved usage, as experiences in Dynamics and Power Apps are twice as fast on Microsoft Edge than Internet Explorer. Without an alternative browser, users will receive a message informing them why they are blocked and suggesting they visit the site on Microsoft Edge.
