OIT Research Support Services recently completed an engagement with first-year Computer Science and Engineering faculty member Dr. Jacob Luber, supporting his onboarding of a major information technology resource for his research group.

The Luber Lab’s Nvidia DGX A100 will enable Dr. Luber and his team to research deep learning models on cancer spatial proteomics data.

Acquiring and running a system as large as a DGX needs careful preparation for a smooth implementation. Dr. Luber reached out to the OIT Research Support Services team early in his planning process, allowing him to use the team as a resource to help evaluate vendors, coordinate services, make infrastructure arrangements, and to be an on-site technical resource during install and onboarding.

The result? The DGX was online just a few days after its arrival on campus. Soon after, the Luber Lab research team was running science workloads, adding a significant capability to UTA’s fight against cancer.

The OIT Research Support Services team is available to assist all members of the UTA research community, especially faculty and staff, with research information technology needs. Reach out to us: oitrss@uta.edu
