Co-authoring content in Teams just got easier. Now you can send a chat message containing a live component that can be edited online – in real time – by everyone in the chat.
Fluid components in Teams Chat allow users to send a message with a table, an action item such as a task list, or a list that can be co-authored and edited by everyone online. Users can create and decide together, minimizing the need for long chat threads and additional meetings.
Additionally, users can get work done efficiently by copying and pasting components across Teams chats.
Expect this update in late August.
Steps on Desktop:
Go to the meeting Chat and locate the box where you type a chat message.
Click on “Insert live” components beneath the box.
Select the type of component you want to insert into the message.
Enter content into the component and change any permissions if needed.
When ready, send your message.
Steps on Mobile:
Tap “Compose options” in the + menu, then tap “Components.”
Select the type of component you want.
Enter any desired content.
When ready, tap “Send.”
It’s easy to co-edit a live component with other chat members. Simply click or tap inside the component and start typing. You will see others editing with you in real time.
