With this update, end users can create an out-of-office message from within Microsoft Teams desktop or Microsoft Teams on the web. This out-of-office message will sync with the user’s Outlook calendar, presence, and contact card information.

Teams users will soon be able to set out of office messages using Teams desktop and web applications.  The out-of-office message automatically syncs with Outlook calendars.

Users can access out-of-office settings using two different methods.

From the Profile Icon

  1. Click on the profile icon (your photo) in the top right of the interface.
  2. Choose “Set Status Message.”
  3. Enter the status message.
  4. Check the box to “Show when people message me” if desired.
  5. Set how long the message should display under “Clear status message after.”
  6. Click “schedule out of office” to save.

From Teams Settings

  1. Click on the profile icon (your photo) in the top right of the interface.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Choose the General tab.
  4. Scroll past Display to get to Out of Office.
  5. Click the Schedule button.
  6. Choose the option to “Turn on automatic replies” if desired.
  7. Enter the out of office message.
  8. If desired, choose to the option to “Send replies outside my organization” and select “Only to my contacts” or “All external senders.”
  9. Enter a different message for external senders, if desired.
  10. Click save.
