Microsoft is introducing a new feature to Breakout Rooms that will allow co-organizers to better manage breakout sessions.

With this feature update co-organizers will be able to:

  • Create rooms
  • Configure room settings, including appointing additional breakout room managers
  • Assign participants
  • Add/Remove rooms
  • Open/Close rooms
  • Send announcements
  • Rename/Delete rooms

Users assigned as the co-organizer role will have the same abilities as the organizer when a breakout room is opened, allowing them to manage rooms on behalf of the organizer, move between rooms and modify meeting options from rooms.

Co-organizers will not be able to pre-create rooms or pre-assign participants ahead of the meeting. Breakout room creation and management will only be possible during the live meeting for co-organizers.
