UTA departments are required to submit all software, cloud services, and Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) for review each year.
EIR may include information technology, software, applications, cloud services, and online resources (such as social media). Equipment, interconnected systems, or subsystems used to create, convert, duplicate, store, or deliver data are also considered EIR. Vendors who provide or modify services on UTA’s behalf must be reviewed as part of this process.
These annual reviews are conducted via the Technology Approval Request (TAPREQ) process to verify that the EIR is accessible and compliant. Those authorized to acquire EIR or any user downloading free software should submit a TAPREQ at go.uta.edu/tapreq to have the EIR reviewed.
TAPREQ are due before acquiring new EIR or renewing existing EIR. There are no exemptions for free products, products acquired via grants, or products for use by an individual. A list of preapproved software that does not require a TAPREQ is available here.
Visit the EIR website for more information or contact us at oit-ea@uta.eduif you have questions or would like assistance navigating the TAPREQ process.
