Effective August 20, 2020, Teams meetings recorded by student accounts will no longer automatically upload to Microsoft Stream. Faculty and staff accounts will not experience this change.

If you have a student account, you can still record Teams meetings with this update. Here’s how:

Sharing and archiving a recording

To share or archive a recorded meeting, you will need to download the file and upload it to Teams, Stream, SharePoint, or OneDrive.  You can share the meeting from any of these platforms.

Visit this article from Microsoft to learn how to upload a video to Streams.

Review the steps in this article to learn how to share a video from Streams.

Playing a recording

To playback a recorded meeting, all you need to do is download the file from the chat window and open it in your video player of choice.

Availability of recordings

Recordings will be available in the meeting chat for 21 days after the meeting. After 21 days, the recording will be unavailable and you will be unable to download it from the chat.
