The Royal Standard of Ur: “War” and “Peace” sides (Ca. 2600-2400 B.C.E.)
The Royal Standard of Ur comes to us from ancient Sumer. The Standard is actually a rather small wooden box inlaid with mosaic of shell, limestone and lapi lazuli. We do not yet know the exact function of the Standard, but the box has two main sections, war and peace.
