Health Equity Action Lab (HEAL)
We are an interdisciplinary group of researchers, clinicians, and community partners.
Our mission is research and its application
The mission of the Health Equity Action Lab (HEAL) is to generate evidence that can be used to inform policies and programs to improve health equity; we strive to produce quality research that is innovative, significant and has practical applications in the community. To work toward this mission, HEAL is focused on cultivating meaningful community engagement, building scientific evidence of the individual, community, and system-level factors that shape health and outcomes across the life course; we seek to understand how these complex interactions can be addressed to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities.
Our focus
Our focus is on gynecological cancer-related risks, healthcare delivery and the Public Health implications of the growing Black Immigrant Population in the US. We apply mixed methods approaches including survey research, Community-based participatory Research (CBPR), in-depth interviews and focus group methods. Our goal is to develop culturally responsive interventions to improve equity in cancer prevention and cancer care delivery.
