This project will investigate the potential impact of brief mindfulness practice and mental health among university students. Specifically, our study aims to examine the effectiveness of a single mindfulness session, incorporating elements from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), on anxiety and quality of life. Students aged 18 and above with varying levels of anxiety will complete standardized measures to gauge anxiety symptoms and quality of life, and then will complete a single mindfulness session followed by a post-session measure of anxiety symptoms. The research aims to uncover how mindfulness immediately influences emotional and cognitive well-being among college students. Its findings carry implications for developing targeted support programs on campuses to enhance students’ mental well-being and overall growth during their college years. By offering insights into the efficacy of condensed mindfulness intervention, this study contributes to the ongoing conversation on promoting mental health among college populations.
