Gas chromatography–vacuum ultraviolet (GC-VUV) spectroscopy is a powerful tool for analyzing complex chemical mixtures. By measuring how compounds absorb light in the 120–240 nm range, GC-VUV can differentiate structurally similar compounds and resolve co-eluting species more effectively than traditional methods like mass spectrometry. This capability makes it particularly valuable in forensic science, fuel analysis, and food safety, where precise identification is critical. As GC-VUV continues to evolve, its ability to provide detailed chemical insights with minimal sample preparation is making it an increasingly important technique for researchers.
