The College of Science is pleased to announce the return of Discover, our annual student research symposium (formerly known as the Annual Celebration of Excellence by Students, or ACES). The event will be a hybrid of asynchronous poster viewing through this website, culminating in a live exhibition of posters and a showcase of the best of undergraduate and graduate research posters in the UTA Planetarium.
The first phase of Discover will be online. Participating students will upload a PDF of their research poster and a video of themselves (5 minutes maximum) explaining their research poster for a general audience. These will be displayed on the Discover website; videos will also be posted on the COS YouTube channel. Posters will be judged by a panel of faculty and alumni. On Friday, April 18, all students will have the opportunity to display their posters in the corridors of the Chemistry & Physics Building (CPB) and explain their research for students, faculty, and the public.
The top 5 undergraduate and top 5 graduate students from online judging will be invited to present in-person on the afternoon of April 18 in the Planetarium, where they will each have 5 minutes to explain their poster and the relevance of their work to society for the audience and our VIP judges before the final awards presentation.
