Abstract
Students in College of Social Work are required to do fieldwork for their course of study. In order to achieve this, there needs to a be a matching application to assign and monitor students through their field study. Smart Placement is a web application that will help the College of Social Work make the process of placing students to agencies as seamless as possible. The users can also manage their field study needs through the application, such logging time, approving forms, requesting students, and more.
Background
Smart Placement is a web application for the College of Social Work at University of Texas at Arlington. The application will be used by different users like administrators, students, field instructors and agencies.
The purpose of Smart placement is to make the life of people who use it easier during the placement process. In the application, an agency can submit a form to be approved for the application, who will be approved by an administrator. The agency will then be able to request a student for placement based on their requirements and demand. The students who are ready for placement will search for an agencies and select their preferences. Depending upon the student’s personal interest and the agency’s requirements, the advisor will assign a student to an agency. The student will complete all the paperwork and interview for the agency, then go for placement. The student will be able to use the system to enter their time sheets and every day log. The field instructor will be able to provide the feedback and grade the students’ reports. The current system being used for the school of social work is InPlace smart place solutions, but the performance has not been what was desired and needed. Due to the limited features, some activities must be completed manually which is not desired and takes up valuable time. Since there are a lot of things that are missing as well as aspects that can be improved upon with the InPlace system, our team was put on this project to help facilitate those needs.

Future Work
There is still a lot that needs to be done regarding the future of the web application. For example, the College of Social Work wants to implement a feature where the agency must be within the DFW area to be selected. There also needs to be integration of MyMav with the application, which will require additional help from UTA. This application has improved in the structural integrity and has most of the essential functions required of the application. There is already a new senior design team working on the project and will continue progressing it. The future of the project is dependent upon what the school of social work desires.
