Abstract

Our project is focused on building a traveling website that is user-friendly and accessible to everyone. The mission of our website is to help a customer to schedule his trip from beginning to the end by giving him detailed information regarding his trip and how can he fully excess all the features of our website. The main target of our project is to help a traveler to save time and money. A website where a person can book a hotel near his destination sight, navigate the popular restaurant and bar, go hiking and camping sites and share his experience and stories by logging into the website which ultimately helps a traveler to manage his trip in an economic and planned way.

Background

People travel out of TEXAS to Florida, California, Oklahoma, Colorado thinking that there is not much hiking and camping near the DFW area. But the truth is there are more than 45 beautiful lakes within an hour’s drive from DFW. Texans are missing the beautiful things that are in front of their eyes. Moreover, talking about the traveling expenses, Texas is far more affordable and economic compared to other states. So, a person who travels inside TEXAS can save few extra bucks which he can use in future expenses. The customer and sponsor want to work with us because our website will provide updated information about the visiting places, including hotel recommendations, recreation, outdoor activities, deals, discounts, and prices, which helps a person travel easily. In addition, the website is user-friendly and accessible to everyone.

Project Requirements

  • user device needs to have minimum hardware requirements.
  • user needs to have basic skills to fully excess the website features.
  • user needs to be able to use his/her proper credentials to login to the website.
  • user needs to create an account to comment on lakes.
  • the system allows a user to login and logout.
  • the application shall be coded using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

System Overview

The website will open the homepage when entered into the URL address section. A designed and navigated page will be displayed on the homepage with all the animations and designs. Homepage, search bar, contact us, about us, and log-in section will be on the Homepage as a navigation bar. A detailed map, highly rated lake and current news regarding the weather will be displayed on the homepage. Menu Bar will have the following navigation bar: Tour to Texas: This Navigation will display all the information and contains the navigation tools for why visit Texas, local Food, and restaurant. Plan Before: This section of the menu will give an idea about what should you buy before leaving vacation. It will give all the information about important personal and useful items that will be needed at the lake. It will also have information about some of the useful items of the store that will be needed for the lake in a short note by the name of the stores. Travel Guide: This section will have information about the local guide if there is any available. The guide will help to provide necessary information about the places. It will also have information about the top attractions nearby and provide transportation if needed by mutual understanding. County: It will display the local lakes and top attractions by county name. Available place: It will display information about the available places to stay. This will be one of the important navigation bars for our website. It will help visitors to book an available room nearby the lakes and parks. Some cabins available by the state park will also be available to book within this website if Texas state park will allow us to link it. Fishing and Camping: This section of the menu will provide the rules and regulations for fishing and camping. Camping sites management information will be in this section. It will provide the necessary precaution before going to campsites. It will list all the available dangers if there is any by the lake.

The application will be separated into two layers: Front-end and Back-end. The front-end includes the Input layer and Presentation layer while Back-end includes Control Layer and Database Layer. Front-end will provide an interactive user interface and the back-end will be used for business logic and to communicate with website UI using HTTP requests. This layer is the user interface which displays detailed information to the user about features of the website. The front-end will take user input which can be sent to the other layers. The interface of the front-end includes a signup and login page where a user can create an account and edit their personal information or sign in to an existing account. Once a user logs into the website, he or she can search for hotels, camping sites, lakes, popular restaurants, and places for entertainment within a certain range. There will a section where a user can share his or her experience and stories. The web app will include updated and accurate information about the destination site which makes the website user-friendly.

Future Work

  • We will be working on uploading photos and videos to optimize the webpage for better performance and result.
  • We will be focusing on the advancement of user experience by adding more features.
