Teaching

I obtained my B.S. in Applied Learning and Development and EC-4 Generalist certification from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. After teaching elementary school for one year in Hurst, I determined that it was not rewarding enough for me, and probably not the best use of my skills as a connoisseur of mathematics. So, I moved to Mansfield and purchased a house there with my wife and got a job teaching middle school math at Workman Jr. High where I happen to have been a student in 1989-1990. One of my former teachers is now one of my colleagues.

Interests

I enjoy playing massively multiplayer online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft and EVE Online. I am a poker aficionado, and qualified to participate in the World Poker Tour’s Amateur Poker League National Championship Tournament in 2008. However, both of those hobbies take a backseat to spending time with my wife, Cristy, and our two children, Preston (3 yrs) and Claire (7 mos).

Classes

  • 2006 – 2008 7th grade math and Pre-AP Pre-Algebra
  • 2008 – present 8th grade math and Pre-AP Algebra I

Biography

I am recipient of a grant sponsored by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), funds which go toward course requirements in the Mathematics Teacher Preparation Academy (MTPA) program at UT-Arlington where I am earning a 3.9 GPA and pursuing of Master of Arts in Mathematics degree with a tentative graduation date of August 2012.
