Research
My research is in the area of Noncommutative Algebra. Over the past two years, I have been working on the definition of a notion of rank on “Noncommutative Quadratic Forms” under the direction of Dr. Michaela Vancliff. Currently, I am looking into using this work to solve certain problems about point modules over certain noncommutative algebras.
Interests
In addition to my devotion & obsession (!) to Noncommutative Algebra, I enjoy yoga, working-out, running, good conversation, biking in scenic areas, going out with friends, traveling, and good movies. I am a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys – I love the NFL! I also enjoy watching US and international soccer.
Biography
I am a native of the island nation of Mauritius, off the coast of Africa in the southwest Indian Ocean. I’ve earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington: a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in mathematics.
In fall 2006, I began my Masters degree in mathematics. From 2007-2009, I have been a graduate teaching assistant in the math department – I taught college algebra, honors calculus I and honors calculus II labs. In fall 2008, I was offered a federal GAANN* Fellowship.
Last year, I was offered a GK-12 MAVS fellowship. As a GK-12 fellow, I have gained valuable insight from being in a high school classroom for a year. My attempt to relate my research to the high school curriculum has also sharpened my communication skills.
