Research
My research interest is in Applied Mathematics/Computational Neuroscience. I hope to contribute to the characterization of bifurcation mechanisms associated with neuron models that include “noise”. These mechanisms provide a basis for studying the bursting properties of single and coupled neurons. Additionally, I am studying the reliability of the bursting system in relation to the level of “noise.”
Interests
Of course I love math. I am very involved with my family, my church, and my local school district. I am a sports fan, particularly baseball. Both of my sons play, and we are all huge Texas Rangers fans in my house. My husband and I have a vast volume of vinyl (records). We are in the process of digitizing them . . . one by one.
Biography
I have a B.A. in Mathematics from Texas Tech University (1990), and an M.S. in Mathematics (Statistics Track) from the University of Texas at Arlington (1996). I have taught at both high school and collegiate levels, and have done some statistics consulting. I am currently studying Computational Neuroscience under the direction of Jianzhong Su, Ph.D., at the University of Texas at Arlington. My husband, Kevin, and I have been happily married for 22 years. Kevin is a 3rd grade Teacher. We have two sons, ages 20 and 10.
