Mentoring: I-Engage

Mentoring is a collaborative relationship that focuses on growth in personal and/or professional areas. A typical mentoring relationship includes a mentor, a more experienced individual, and mentee. The mentoring relationship often centers around brief moments of informal conversations, but established formal communication is also effective.
Mentorship is based on mutual respect that fosters a positive environment for continual growth and learning to occur. Mentors act as role models to their mentees. They provide guidance and advice, expertise, and insights. They are also supportive, including creating connections, and point their mentee towards resources and opportunities.
UTA Graduate School offers an application based mentoring program, I-Engage, for graduate students to mentor undergraduate students through a research experience. This invaluable experience is often the first encounter of one-on-one mentoring for many graduate students. I-Engage is a summer semester program that is application based.
Graduate Student interested in participating in the I-Engage mentoring program do not need to be part of the CIRTL-UTA Teaching Certificate Program to participate. Follow the link for I-Engage Summer Research Program for more details about this graduate student mentor opportunity.
