Level 2:  Associate Certificate

The Associate Certificate is about describing and recognizing the value of teaching and learning.  At this level graduate students have the autonomy with the choice of topics and modality of teaching and learning sessions.  Graduate students will also create a mini poster that describes and recognizes the value of teaching and learning practices.  Graduate students will add a new item to their professional portfolio and update existing professional portfolio items as they reflect upon their teaching and learning development at this level.  Based on the requirements selected by the graduate students, this certificate level has a combination of in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous requirements.

Requirements:

Option 1

  • 6 Teaching and Learning Sessions
    • 5 sessions about Teaching and Learning
    • 1 Elective session
  • Attendance at the half day UTA Graduate Student Conference on Teaching Excellence

AND

  • Mini-Poster about describing and recognizing valuable experience in teaching and learning
  • Professional Portfolio:
    • New:  Teaching Observation 
    • Update: Teaching Philosophy
    • Update: Sample Syllabus
    • Update:  Sample Lesson Plan and Activity

Option 2

  • The College Classroom (12-week synchronous online course sponsored by the CIRTL-network)

AND

  • Mini-Poster about describing and recognizing valuable experience in teaching and learning
