Level 3:  Practitioner Certificate

The Practitioner Certificate addresses how graduate students can engage with their teaching and learning experiences.  Graduate students will attend 3 ‘how-to’ workshops to create their own Teaching-as-Research Project and write a brief reflection statement about how they engaged in teaching and learning.  Graduate students will also participate in the UTA Emerging Leader Program that covers leadership development as graduate students and attend any professional development session of their choice.  Graduate students will also add and update items in their professional portfolio. The requirements of this certificate level are designed to be completed over one academic year and with a combination of in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous requirements.

Requirements:

  • Attendance at UTA Emerging Leaders Program for Graduate Students (6 sessions:  3 in the Fall and 3 in the Spring semesters)
  • 3 Teaching-as-Research Workshops:  TAR Project (3 sessions: 1 fall, 1 spring, 1 summer)
  • 1 Professional development session
  • Brief reflection statement about engagement in teaching and learning experiences
