Mission
The CIRTL mission is to enhance excellence in undergraduate education through the development of a national faculty committed to implementing and advancing effective teaching practices for diverse learners as part of successful and varied professional careers.
Thirty-eight research universities that produce one-third of U.S. doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields now are members of the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL), established in 2003 with support from the National Science Foundation to improve the teaching skills and increase the diversity of future STEM university faculty members.
The CIRTL-UTA programs are designed to supplement UTA graduate programs, not distract from it. CIRTL-UTA focuses on participants sharing and discussing teaching and learning practices in their discipline.
Participants in CIRTL-UTA programs can earn completion certificates for each of the four levels, digital badges, and certificate notion on UTA official transcripts: College Teaching, Associate, Practitioner, and Scholar, which can be used to demonstrate your commitment to quality teaching during your employment search.
Additionally, the CIRTL-Network offers workshops and other events each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) to provide all participants opportunities to gain additional knowledge and networking with their peers.
Your relationship with CIRTL can continue after graduation, and you can continue to use CIRTL network and CIRTL-UTA resources and networks as you start your career.
