Dr. Mark Cichock holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Texas at Arlington. His principal field is comparative politics with specialty interests in Russia, the Eurasian states (especially the Baltics and Georgia), and Central and Eastern Europe.
Dr. Cichock received his Ph.D. in International Studies in 1983 from the University of South Carolina where he also earned his Master’s degree in 1979.
He also holds a B.S. in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin at Steven’s Point. He has taught at Wake Forest University (1982-1985) and has been on faculty at the UTA since 1985.
Dr. Cichock has also worked with a number of consultancy firms providing expertise in international relations/American foreign policy to the United Nations and the U.S. Department of State.
Dr. Cichock teaches courses on Russia Domestic and Foreign Policy, Eastern Europe, US Foreign Policy, and American National Government.
He is the author of Russian and Eurasian Politics: A Comparative Approach (2003, Longman) and is working on the second edition of that text. Dr. Cichock also co-edited Prospects for Change in Socialist Systems (1987, with Charles J. Bukowski). Among his other research interests are projects concerning Russian-Baltic relations, and Russian-Georgian relations.
Dr. Cichock has provided commentary for television, radio, and newspapers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as provided political commentary for other regional and national media.
